Frequently asked questions

How do I convert HEX to CMYK?

Enter the HEX code and the converter shows the CMYK equivalent instantly. Note that CMYK is a print color model, and exact ink output depends on your printer's color profile, so treat the conversion as a standard mathematical starting point.

What's the difference between HSL and HSV?

Both describe color by hue, but HSL uses saturation and lightness while HSV (also called HSB) uses saturation and value/brightness. They're two ways to pick and adjust the same colors intuitively.

Does editing one format update the others?

Yes. Change the color with the picker, HEX, RGB, or HSL fields and every format recalculates at once, so you always see all five representations of the same color.

About this tool

The color converter turns any color between HEX, RGB, HSL, HSV, and CMYK simultaneously. Pick a color with the eyedropper, type a HEX code, or enter RGB or HSL values, and every format updates instantly with a copy button on each. HEX and RGB are for screens, HSL and HSV for adjusting colors by hue, and CMYK for print work. A live swatch shows the exact color. Everything is calculated in your browser.

Like most tools on UtilityBase, the color converter runs entirely in your browser — nothing you enter is uploaded or stored on a server. It's free to use with no account required. Browse more image tools here.
