How to use the qr code generator

  1. 1Type or paste the content — a URL, plain text, or a Wi-Fi string.
  2. 2Adjust the size slider and pick an error-correction level (M is right for most uses).
  3. 3Optionally choose custom foreground and background colors, keeping strong contrast.
  4. 4Scan the live preview with your phone to confirm it works.
  5. 5Download the code as PNG for screens or SVG for print.

Common uses

  • Linking a printed flyer, menu, or business card to a website
  • Sharing Wi-Fi credentials with guests without spelling out the password
  • Adding a scannable link to a resume, poster, or product packaging
  • Sending a long URL to your own phone without typing it

Frequently asked questions

Do QR codes made here expire?

No. The code is a direct encoding of your content — there's no redirect through our servers and nothing to expire. It will scan forever, as long as the destination (like a URL) still exists.

What's the difference between PNG and SVG?

PNG is a fixed-size image, perfect for websites, documents, and messaging. SVG is a vector file that scales to any size without losing sharpness — the right choice for print, posters, and signage.

What does the error-correction level do?

It adds redundancy so the code still scans when partially obscured or damaged. Level L tolerates about 7% damage, M about 15%, Q 25%, and H 30%. Higher levels produce denser codes, so use M unless you plan to overlay a logo or print at very small sizes.

Can I use custom colors?

Yes — pick any foreground and background color. For reliable scanning, keep strong contrast between the two and keep the background lighter than the foreground.

Is the content I encode private?

Yes. The QR code is generated by JavaScript running in your browser. The text or URL you enter is never transmitted, logged, or stored anywhere.

About this tool

The QR code generator turns any text into a scannable QR code instantly. Paste a URL, contact details, a Wi-Fi network string, or plain text, then adjust the size, colors, and error-correction level before downloading a crisp PNG or an infinitely scalable SVG. Because the code is generated entirely in your browser, the content never touches a server, there are no accounts or watermarks, and — unlike codes from many 'free' QR services — the result never expires or redirects through a tracking domain. Higher error-correction levels keep codes scannable even when partially covered by a logo or damaged in print.

Like everything on UtilityBase, the qr code generator runs entirely in your browser — nothing you enter is uploaded or stored on a server. It's free to use with no account required. Browse more generators here.
