Frequently asked questions

How much does eBay take per sale?

For most standard categories eBay charges a final value fee of about 13.6% plus a per-order fee of $0.40 (or $0.30 on orders of $10 or less). The percentage is applied to the item price plus the shipping the buyer pays. Rates vary by category, so adjust the percentage to match yours.

Is the fee charged on shipping too?

Yes. eBay's final value fee is calculated on the total the buyer pays, which includes handling and the shipping charge, and technically sales tax as well. This calculator applies the fee to the item price plus buyer-paid shipping.

Are these rates current?

The defaults reflect eBay's standard rates as of mid-2026, but eBay changes fees periodically and rates differ by category. Use the adjust-rates option to enter your exact figures, and confirm the current fees on eBay.

About this tool

The eBay fee calculator works out what eBay takes from a sale and what you actually keep. Enter the sale price, the shipping the buyer pays, and optionally your item and shipping costs, and it applies the final value fee plus the per-order fee to show your payout and profit. It breaks the fees down line by line, and because the standard rate varies by category, you can adjust the percentage to match yours. Everything is calculated in your browser.

Like most tools on UtilityBase, the ebay fee calculator runs entirely in your browser — nothing you enter is uploaded or stored on a server. It's free to use with no account required. Browse more calculators here.
