Frequently asked questions

Is this teleprompter really free?

Yes, completely. There's no account, no watermark, and no download. Paste your script, set the speed and size, and run it fullscreen in your browser. Your script is saved locally on your device only.

What is mirror mode for?

Hardware teleprompters reflect your screen through a piece of angled glass in front of the lens, which flips the text. Mirror mode pre-flips the text horizontally so it reads correctly in that reflection. Leave it off when reading directly from the screen.

Will the screen go to sleep while I record?

No. The teleprompter requests a wake lock so your display stays on while it runs, so it won't dim or sleep in the middle of a take. Press Esc or Stop when you're done.

About this tool

This free online teleprompter scrolls your script smoothly up the screen so you can read straight into the camera. Paste your text, set the scroll speed and font size, and run it fullscreen; a mirror mode flips the text horizontally for hardware beam-splitter rigs. It keeps your screen awake with the Wake Lock API so it won't sleep mid-take, lets you pause and adjust speed on the fly, and saves your script locally so it's ready next time — no account or install. Everything runs in your browser.

Like most tools on UtilityBase, the teleprompter runs entirely in your browser — nothing you enter is uploaded or stored on a server. It's free to use with no account required. Browse more productivity tools here.
