Frequently asked questions

How does the calculator handle leap years?

It computes calendar-accurate differences, so February 29 birthdays and leap-year day counts are handled correctly. Total-day figures count actual elapsed days, including every leap day in between.

Can I calculate age at a past or future date?

Yes — set the 'as of' date to any day. This answers questions like eligibility cutoffs ('how old was I on June 1?') or how old you'll be at a future event.

Why do different sites give slightly different month/day answers?

Because months have different lengths, there are two conventions for borrowing days when subtracting dates. This tool borrows from the month before the reference date, the most common convention — differences between methods are at most a day or two.

Is my date of birth stored anywhere?

No. The math runs in your browser and nothing is transmitted or saved. Refreshing the page clears the fields.

About this tool

The age calculator works out an exact age from any date of birth — in years, months, and days — along with the totals people actually search for: total months, weeks, days, and hours lived. It also counts down to the next birthday and tells you which weekday it falls on. An optional 'as of' date lets you compute age at any point in time, which is useful for form deadlines, eligibility cutoffs ('was I 18 on that date?'), pet ages, or historical questions. The calculation correctly handles leap years and varying month lengths, and runs entirely in your browser — dates are never sent anywhere.

Like everything on UtilityBase, the age calculator runs entirely in your browser — nothing you enter is uploaded or stored on a server. It's free to use with no account required. Browse more calculators here.
