Dice Roller
Roll up to 20 virtual dice — d4, d6, d8, d10, d12, or d20 — with totals.
Updated July 7, 2026
How to use the dice roller
- 1Pick a die type — d6 for board games, d20 for most tabletop RPG checks.
- 2Set how many dice to roll at once (up to 20).
- 3Click roll and read each die plus the total, average, and highest.
- 4Use the recent-roll history to settle any table disputes.
Common uses
- Replacing lost or forgotten dice mid board game
- Rolling checks and damage for D&D and other tabletop RPGs remotely
- Teaching probability distributions with real random data
- Generating quick random numbers in a familiar, visual format
Frequently asked questions
Are the rolls truly random?
Yes. Each die uses crypto.getRandomValues with rejection sampling, which guarantees every face has exactly equal probability — arguably fairer than physical dice, which often have small manufacturing biases.
Can I roll multiple dice at once?
Yes, up to 20 dice of the same type per roll. You'll see each individual die plus the total, average, and highest result — handy for damage rolls or stat generation.
Which die types are supported?
The full standard set: d4, d6, d8, d10, d12, and d20. For percentile (d100) rolls, roll a d10 twice or use the random number generator with a 1–100 range.
Why are 20s and 1s highlighted?
Rolling the maximum face (like a natural 20) or a 1 often carries special meaning in tabletop games — critical successes and failures — so they're color-coded to spot instantly.
About this tool
The dice roller simulates every standard tabletop die — d4, d6, d8, d10, d12, and d20 — and lets you roll up to twenty at once with an instant total, average, and highest die. Results come from the browser's cryptographic random generator, so every face is exactly equally likely: fair for D&D ability checks, board games with lost dice, classroom probability exercises, or any decision that needs more than two outcomes. Natural 20s and 1s are highlighted, and a recent-roll history keeps the last dozen results visible for table disputes. Everything runs locally in your browser.
Like everything on UtilityBase, the dice roller runs entirely in your browser — nothing you enter is uploaded or stored on a server. It's free to use with no account required. Browse more generators here.
